Students in this class take on individual Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects on the Calaveras High School Student Farm. They apply their knowledge of field crop production, environmental concerns, economic constraints, weather, soil fertility, varietal differences, cultural practices, food safety, good agricultural practices, and pest management to design and implement a yearlong self-driven SAE project. These projects could include a research and/or entrepreneurial SAE designed by the student.
Students will build upon their management skills developed in Crop Production II by training other students in the class with their knowledge and skills. Students in this class are required to participate in a community classroom with a local farmer to learn first-hand from them on their farm.
