Calaveras High School Career Technical Education
The Forestry and Natural Resources pathway helps students understand the relationships between California’s natural resources and the environment. Topics include energy and nutrient cycles, water resources and management, soil conservation, wildlife preservation and management, forest and fire management, and lumber production. In addition, students study the outdoor recreation industry and multiple-use management.

Introduction
Integrates biological science practices and knowledge into the practice of sustainable agriculture. Students learn what sustainable agriculture is, how it fits into our environment, the molecular biology principles that guide sustainable agriculture, and how we make decisions to maximize sustainable agricultural practices within a functioning ecosystem.

Concentrator
Engages students with the local environment and natural resources of Northern California as well as public lands of the United States. Learning will take place in the classroom, school farm, school forest, and field trips to local and regional lands .

Capstone
Students learn about forest ecology, management, and conservation by exploring such topics as environmental policy, land use, lumber production, water resources, fire ecology, and wildlife management. Integrates classroom discussions and lab activities. Students utilize the Calaveras High School Farm & Forest as a living laboratory .
